A Rich History of Proven Design

Like the early pioneers of private aviation, Walter Beech, Clyde Cessna, William Piper, Alberto Santos-Dumont, Giuseppe Bellanca, and many others, the people behind Texas Aircraft Manufacturing are all passionate about flight and the freedom and adventure it brings to all of us.

And, while our new-generation Colt LSA is a brand-new design, its lineage can be traced back 20-plus years to the successful family of experimental and light sport aircraft created by our legendary, Brazilian designer, Caio Jordão. The Texas Aircraft Colt is currently undergoing flight-testing to earn its ASTM certification.

Introducing the Colt S-LSA Light Sport Aircraft

Texas Aircraft is proud to introduce the Colt-SL, a new-generation Light Sport Aircraft (S-LSA), offering many advantages including a high-wing design, all-metal airframe, solid metal rivets, welded passenger safety cell, dual yokes, Galaxy GRS parachute, Dynon touchscreen NextGen avionics, and much more.

Factory Inauguration

In February 2019 Texas Aircraft hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate its new development and production facility located at South Texas Regional Airport in Hondo, Texas.

Colt Testing

With more than 20 years of aircraft manufacturing expertise, the Texas Aircraft team pursued an experience-based, methodical and pioneering approach to the Colt’s development and testing process including designing and fabricating new jigs to ensure the Colt not only meets but exceeds ASTM requirements.

Legendary Designers, Caio & Diego Jordão

Due, in large part to his lengthy career as the designer and manufacturer of some of Brazil’s most popular light aircraft, many people consider Caio to be Brazil’s “Godfather of light aviation.”

With more than 300 planes manufactured and amassing approximately 150,000 flight hours, the proven design and structural integrity of legacy planes provided the inspiration for the new-generation Texas Aircraft Colt as an aircraft that is easy to fly, maintain and to own.
